Last ”holiday”

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

So, it’s been couple of weeks since my last blogging and I decided to time this one just before my “holiday” ends. Actually it haven’t been a real “holiday” for me as I’ve just been workless since February.

But how’s things going with eSports? Well, as usually during summer it’s always a bit quiet in Finland as people are having their summer holidays and so on. I haven’t really had any motivation lately to do much of news postings to Gaming.fi website, only did some coverage about this year’s ESWC event and one Finnish Counter-Strike 1.6 team. I haven’t even done any blogs lately here at our sites since I really haven’t had anything to write about. But now as my spare time is coming to end I decided to write something.

So, I have been on “holiday” during the whole spring and this summer until this day. But then, why does free time come to it’s end? Well, lets say that same reason as some Finnish top CS 1.6 teams have faced some changes, players are going to do their part in the military service. Yes, I’m going to army also tomorrow.. It’s quite nice since there’s quite much of my ex-class/schoolmates and other irl-mates going at same time. There’s also one other good thing besides that. The place where I’m going to do my service is located here at city where I live in. The gates of army’s venue are just like 2 kilometers away from my home, which is really nice. Not long way to home during the holidays from army.

Okey, that’s enough for this time. Peace for now and enjoy the summer and nice weather!

Bloggin’ time!

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Hi there all! Most of you must be thinking that who the hell is this perverted looking guy so at first I shall introduce myself.

I’m Joel ‘tepid’ Asikainen, 17-year-old student from Mikkeli and I just recently joined RCTIC. Some of you might know me as Gaming.fi admin, but not anymore. I had to quit as Gaming.fi’s newswriter because I didn’t have enough time to follow the eSports scene. Now I’m kind of a little assistant in RCTIC’s management. It has been fun to work with these people so thank you PassengeR!

My eSports background
I can’t even remember when I got my computer because I have always been on computer. I started online gaming with Battlefield 2 at the age of 13. I was suprised how fun it was to play online against real people. After playing it for almost a year, I joined to my first clan. Then I realized that online gaming is awesome! After I got bored with BF2, it was time to change the game completely. I started to play Call of Duty 2 and I just loved that game. We founded a clan right away and started to play in Clan Base. I kept playing it with same friends for a long time, even after the Call of Duty 4 was published.
Nowadays I don’t play FPS games because our team just vanished, though we still are good friends. Only game I play now is HoN. Studying takes so much time from me so I can’t start playing in clan seriously. Maybe some day again…

How am I doing?
Pretty good! I was at school today where I actually started to feel sick. I felt like my stomach would have been melting. But now I feel fine again. When I got home today, I played few HoN games and they even went nice as if there were some noob leavers because of the open beta. I want that retail NOW!
Hour ago I decided to start up the engine of my 125cc Yamaha. It looked like a shitpile to me so it had to be washed. Tomorrow I’m going to open my driving season with it.

Damn it, I should be studying right now.. Oh well, at least I made my first blogpost. Catch y’all in the next one!

eSports from my perspective

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Well hello fellas and good morning to you all. Yeah it’s sunday and 8.40am. I just thought to write a little about what eSports means to me now a days. I haven’t been playing any game active since I left the day of defeat:source scene like a year ago but still eSports has a big influence in my life. Is it a hobby or is it something more? I haven’t figured it out yet, but it seems that eSports is more than a hobby for me.

In the past 3 months I’ve been trying to play some HoN but it seems that it ain’t my thing and after my military service ended quite fast I decided to start my job at RCTIC eSports club and so far it’s been fun. Lots to do and being organizers is my thing for sure. Why? Well I like to handle things that players just don’t have time to? Isn’t that why people join organizations? I like to quide them towards better future and keep their motivation up and running that they can give their best in the battlefields. So what comes to the topic of this blog post, eSports from my perspective is a growing business that needs people to run it. I am not the big shot in this business but I do my best to make everything run smoothly.

Ou yeah, what comes to our teams. We just recruited an awesome TF2 crew that has lots of potential and motivation to become a top team in near future plus they are really nice guys, so I am looking forward to work with them. What else? Well some sad news I am afraid, our Day of Defeat:Source squad lost to SaTaN666 in EMS more about that some day when I get more information what is next. Maybe an interview? Who knows.

But this is eSports from my perspective. Hope you enjoyed reading atleast. Peace!
